Last year, it was rumored that Janet Jackson was working on a new album but she shut down any and all speculation by writing on Twitter, “If there is a new project, you’ll hear it from my lips.” Well, Ms. Jackson kept her promise and her mouth shut … until this past weekend, when she surprised her fans and announced, early Saturday morning (on her 49th birthday) by tweeting a link to a video of her voice …

“I promised you’d hear it from my lips and now you will. This year: new music; new world tour; a new movement. I’ve been listening. Let’s keep the conversation going.” She also included the Twitter hashtag, “#ConversationsInACafe” which is supposedly the title of her new full length.

Jackson’s last studio album, Discipline, was released back in 2008 on Island Records followed by the Number Ones collection a year later.

The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach Launches New Project The Arcs

Back in 2009, the Black KeysDan Auerbach released a solo album called ‘Keep It Hid’. Now, he’s announced the formation of The Arcs, a new solo project. And, according to Rolling Stone magazine an album will be released on Warner Bros Records. Initially, Auerbach put out the boxing-themed single “Stay in my Corner” b/w “Tomato Can” on May 2 to coincide with the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight and it will be released exclusively through independent record stores.

The Arcs’ full length will be released later this summer and features “a whole bunch of different people, my favorites,” he told Rolling Stone. “I just wanted to do my thing and get extra weird. I wanted everything to flow and be cohesive. A lot of the songs bleed one into the other, a lot like the Grateful Dead – my favorite records that they did. So I’ve got a lot of connected songs. It’s basically everything I love about music all wrapped up into one record that’s all!”

Dan Auerbach said that the Black Keys will head out on tour (after their previous dates were canceled due to Patrick Carney‘s shoulder injury) before the album is released.

Fashion Forward : Google Tracks Fashion Trends

landscape-1430239214-141298113

Google, it seems, really does know everything including how fashionable your outfit is. A new report by the search giant claims to have the ability to reveal fashion trends by tracking how often different styles or garments are entered into their search queries.

This year, Tulle skirts have grown in popularity according to trending Google apparel searches by 34% from January 2014 to January 2015, and jogger pants are also on the rise according to the report. Peplum dresses and string bikinis are on their way out, while skinny jeans and corset dresses are just seasonally on the down-and-out. And jumpsuits and rompers are seeing a renaissance this spring.

Google’s insight into fashion trends has allowed the social media giant to lend its consulting support to major retailers including Calvin Klein, which use the search engine to forecast and plan future fashion. “We’re interested in being powerful digital consultants for our brands, not just somebody they can talk to about what ads they can buy online,” said Lisa Green, who heads Google’s fashion and luxury team, told the New York Times.

ODESSA ‘Hummed Low’ Music Video

“Hummed Low” is one of the standout tracks on singer-songwriter Odessa’s 2014 self-titled EP, and now it’s one of the focal points for ‘Odessa’, the artist’s recently released, self titled debut full-length album.

This mesmerizing tune has an equally intriguing video, featuring a group of women in traditional, almost pilgrim-like dress letting loose for a night of dancing and a joint or two out in the woods.

“I wrote the words to this song after a long drive through Kentucky with my friend Gil,” said Odessa. “The melody came to me in Colorado, inspired by the pure blue sky and groves of Aspens.”
