Passion Pit – Sleepyhead (Wawa Remix)

Zowie – Broken Machine (Wawa Remix)

Kylie Minogue – All The Lovers (Wawa After Dark Remix)

Hello guys, this is Bojan and Vic and we are Wawa.  Hello!

How did Wawa get started remixing?

The first remix we did was for UK label Defected and after that more and more requests started to come and finally we got in touch with Peace Bisquit Agency.  Paul brought us to US music market.

Did you ever envision the Wawa project getting so big so quickly?

To get to the point we are now, it took us a few years of really hard work, but it is also thanks to our Peace Bisquit Management.  They give the support you need and to work with great artists and it helps a lot.

What remix of your own do you love the most?

That’s a tough question because we mostly work on tracks that we love.  But then after listening to the track for so many hours, it’s sometimes really hard to say that you still like it.  But so far, we think that the one we like the most is Hilary Duff’s “Stranger”.

What is one remix, not done by you, that totally blew you away?

For both of us, it was the Scumfrog remix of Kylie’s “Love at First Sight”, the biggest remix ever.

How do you guys work together in the studio?

When working on the remix, we listen to the track a couple of times.  We are thinking about the direction of where we can go with it.  Then we choose elements that we really like and we choose elements that we should get rid of.  Then I start playing piano looking for riff, chords or other elements and then we try to fix the sound that’s used the best to the current project, and that part takes the most time.

Where do you get the inspiration for the mixes?

You never know how it comes.  Sometimes you wake up with this idea in your head and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.  Sometimes you catch something on the radio and then it turns out it was a really good idea for the remix.  Sometimes after listening to the song, we already have the idea.

You have remixed many huge artists.  Who do you want to work with in the future?

It’s really hard to mention any current names.  We keep looking for a new artist that will inspire us and we believe someone new will show up very soon.

What are you currently working on?

Currently, we are considering doing a remix on the new album from Boy George (They have  just finished remixes Reba McEntire, Yoko Ono, Chris Willis, Ultra Naté and Amanda Lepore and are collaborating on a new song with Jody Watley)

    That was us, Wawa.  Thanks.
